Looking back, Natalie Ayala never imagined she would one day call herself an artist. Growing up, she was drawn more to the outdoors, sports, and adventure than to pencils or paintbrushes. But during her freshman year of high school in 2008, her life changed in a way she never expected.
Natalie lost her father in a sudden accident. The loss left a deep and lasting mark on her life; a memory that will always remain with her. Navigating that pain at such a young age was incredibly difficult, but over time she discovered something powerful: art became a way to process her emotions, find healing, and express what words could not.
Through creativity, Natalie began to transform grief into growth.
Today, Natalie’s work is driven by emotion, curiosity, and the complexities of life. She is drawn to the mysteries of human experience; the feelings we struggle to understand and the moments that leave lasting impressions on our hearts. Her art explores love, pain, resilience, dreams, and the unpredictable nature of life itself.
Natalie often incorporates collage techniques within her paintings, intuitively assembling images and symbolic elements as each piece evolves. She also draws inspiration from dream journaling and the surrealist technique known as automatism, allowing subconscious thoughts and emotions to guide the imagery that appears in her work.
The result is artwork that blends realism with illusion, inviting viewers into layered stories where meaning unfolds with every glance.
Through her art, Natalie hopes others can see reflections of their own emotions, experiences, and dreams within the worlds she creates.
